From 1970's To Fabulous!

Alright I admit it.  I performed one of the biggest DIY no no's.  I forgot to take a before picture!

I inherited this fabulous wicker set of furniture that was dark brown with this horrendous fabric on the seats.  Scratchy, dusty and ugly, a trilogy of crimes against my sense of style.

So out with the ugly in with the funky.

I sprayed the set black with that uber sticky spray paint made for plastic (and wicker - it says so on the label).  I used matt black b=with a light top coat of gloss.  Next time I would use gloss all the way since the wicker is old and needed the extra oomph to protect it and make it look new again.

Here is the finished product:

So... No detailed how I did it photos at all.  This was the first time I sewed piping and I didn't have a piping foot so that was interesting.  Basic steps:
1. remove old fabric
2. trace onto new fabric
3. sew it together
4. staple it on.

it was really that easy.  For the cushions I bought pillow forms and zipped up new covers, they are square so it was simple as well!

Next time.  More details!
